Unlock Your Pilates Potential: How One-to-One Pilates Classes Help You Reach Your Goals

If you have been considering getting started with Pilates, you may be considering whether to start in a group setting or one to one.

Training one-to-one with a Pilates teacher can be highly beneficial for several reasons. While group classes have their own advantages, one to one Pilates could work better for you for a variety of reasons, including:

Personalised attention: One-to-one Pilates training allows you to receive personalised attention. With knowledge of your needs and requirements, your teacher will tailor your session to your individual needs and focus on areas that need the most attention. This can be especially helpful if you have any injuries, chronic pain, or other health conditions that require modifications or special attention, or you may wish to work towards a specific goal.

Customised lesson plan: A one-to-one session provides an opportunity for an experienced teacher to develop a bespoke lesson plan specifically designed for your goals and abilities. This personalised approach can help you achieve your goals more efficiently and effectively than a group class. So, if you are training for a marathon and need some help with strength and flexibility, classes can be designed around this specific need. Equally, if you are suffering from long Covid, you may need to have classes that are shorter in length and involve more breath work and gentle movement.

Flexibility: One-to-one training provides greater flexibility in fitting your movement in. You can work with your teacher to find a time that suits you best, without worrying about missing out on a group class or trying to coordinate with others, and their diaries. I have clients who use their lunch break, once a week, or an early morning before work, to do Pilates to keep them well through the day.

Faster progress: With one-to-one training, you may progress faster than in a group setting as you are receiving personalised feedback and attention. During the sessions, your teacher can help you identify areas for improvement and work on specific exercises to target those areas, and set appropriate ‘homework’!

Greater comfort and confidence: If group settings make you feel uncomfortable, or self conscious, you may feel more comfortable working one-to-one rather than in a group setting. This can help build confidence and provide a more comfortable environment to work on exercises and ask questions without feeling self-conscious.

Personalised attention, customised workout plans, flexibility in scheduling, faster progress, and greater comfort and confidence are just some of the advantages of training one-to-one. Whether online or in person in Kingston or Surbiton, one to one Pilates could be just what you need to feel more confident, empowered, stronger and more energised. And don't just take my word for it! One of my lovely clients has written a few words about our classes.

"I have been practising with Rachel since September 2019. I was initially looking to strengthen my core following the birth of my daughter and she was recommended to me by one of my NCT group. I have a weekly one-to-one with her, either in-person or virtually. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

In the three and half years I have practising with Rachel, every single session has been different. She makes an enormous effort to keeps things fresh and to tailor every class to your unique training needs and how your body is feeling. She is extremely encouraging and supportive and a thoroughly lovely person too. I look forward to our sessions every week and am noticeably stronger for them"
